How can we ever claim to help men, if our own Government refuses to even acknowledge those most vulnerable? Yup. Yet again the @ukhomeoffice has reminded us that men’s needs, wellbeing and safety are secondary to women’s. Their safeguarding is ‘an afterthought’, that is ‘devoid of ambition’ and ‘disappointing to the extreme’. And these are not my words, but those of Dame Vera Baird, the Victims Commissioner of England and Wales. Words used to describe the Governments latest and highly anticipated policy document about male victims of #domesticabuse. A document that has since been described as counter productive, offensive, and exclusionary. Meanwhile the world continues to gaslight men. Society tells them their problems would all disappear if only they talked a little more; whilst simultaneously showing us that the world is actually unwilling, or unable, to listen to what is being said. So what now - has there been any progress for abused men at all? ~ Source: The Independent https://tinyurl.com/5n7ttced ONS Domestic Violence https://tinyurl.com/55ntst83 The ManKind Initiative https://tinyurl.com/2p8kraj5 Images by Ian Dooley and Andrew Neel from Unsplash
