From life expectancy and sentencing bias, to lacking educational opportunities and workplace death; there are striking similarities between the lives of Black Americans and American men. The fear and danger that surrounds them, the disposability and dehumanisation that overrides their humanity – these are the unwanted bedfellows of the same shared experiences. Both groups are seen by many as inherently dangerous, as disruptive and problematic. And whilst it is a controversial observation to make, is it at least worth discussing?
