Good news is a rare thing in this space, and news as promising this, is frankly unheard of. And so the announcement of a new bill to create a Violence Against Men and Boys Strategy in the U.K, is something we should all be pouring the gasoline of positively onto, to make sure the flames of progress cannot be stamped out. The new bill, announced two days ago, attempts to finally help protect, research and fund services for male victims of parter, domestic, sexual, and honour based abuse and forced marraige; to ensure they are supported adequately, and taken out of the VAWG strategy altogether. Because, in the U.K., the three million abused men who live here, are still considered “male victims of violence against women”, and soon the absurdity could be over. Just imagine that for a moment – You are an abused man, isolated, beaten and immiserated by your wife; you finally build up the courage to seek help, and you are classed, by our own government, as a woman. Yes – “Male victims of violence against women” It will be a shameful black mark on the soul of this country for generations, that will forever remind us of how much we failed, and relegated male victims to the sidelines. But it can end here – if we help. So please, if you do one thing today, then follow this link, and contact your local MP to demand they support this bill, and ensure its ratification. We have a rare opportunity to change history, to save men and boys, and now it is down to us, to make sure it is carried through to completion.
