I know, sometimes on this page you’ll see the same graphs, numbers, charts, or diagrams, several times. You’ll hear the same claims, the same shocking stories, and same hidden realities revealed. You’ll read the same issues talked about, discussed, and dissected; battled over in the comments, again, and again, and again. Round and round @thetinmen goes, the never ending Groundhog Day of Instagram. So yes, if it feels like I repeat myself, it’s because, well… I am. I repeat myself because nothing changes. Each year the same staggering number of male deaths happen at work. The same number of men tragically take their own lives. The same vulnerable men remain shut out of abuse shelters. The same charities, Governments, politicians, and organisations do, and say nothing. The same fathers don’t have equal rights. The same boys don’t have bodily autonomy. And advocacy to change that is still laughed at, or shouted down, talked over, by the same nit wit voices, with the same tiresome jokes and whines. So here we are. I don’t know how long we stay on this ride, I don’t know how nauseating it will become, or who will join, or leave us along the way. But for as long as society repeats its pattern of not caring, or talking in good faith about men and boys, so must we repeat our own pattern; of insisting for change, again, and again, and again, until one day it finally happens. So strap yourself in, buy another ticket, and I’ll see you next time around.
