Climate change, vegetarianism, natural disasters, and now safe cycling; it seems like every day that a new, and increasingly contrived, social problem is twisted into a pretzel and reappropriated as a ‘feminist issue’. I even saw police brutality, for which <5% of U.S. victims are women, become a ‘feminist issue’ too. It makes little sense to me. And yet London Cycling, a road safety charity, are the latest recruits to the barmy squad, who have decided to forefront identity politics and bizarre gender theory, ahead of protecting cyclists. ‘We’re calling for safe cycling for women!’ Shouts their new campaign, citing a selection of tragic losses of women cyclists in London. And yet, you’d be forgiven for not knowing that four times more male cyclists are killed on British streets, than female. Erm. What? So do men not deserve to get home from work just as much as women? Are the roads that they cycle, or the bikes they ride, any safer? And what even is a ‘feminist issue' anyway? I live in London, ride a bike, and am not a feminist. The majority of those killed on bikes are not feminists. What about their safety? Let’s be clear – London Cycling are advocating to exclude half the population, and those most often killed, from road safety reforms. The spotlight of compassion is centred back on women. The men on bikes who never made it home, are ignored. I am so over woke politics crowbarring its way into every single part of life; even where it makes no sense, and is not welcome. Why do so many look at a problem, and needlessly stir in divisive gender theories, to gatekeep, deny, and ignore those most impacted, to make the world a little bit more stupid, and angry in the process? Well, maybe that's what makes it a 'feminist issue'? What do you think? ~ GB bike deaths Images by Jack Young, Gradienta, and Kiwi Hug.
