@thetinmen The world's most influential gender gap report .. A load of bullsh*t as a graph bullsh*t smaller bullsh*t and how it lies
@thetinmen WSRLD ECONOMIC FORUM Global Gender Gap Report 2025 INSIGHT REPO RT The "GGGR" JUNE 2025 This is the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report. It's published every year;usually followed by a series of bleak headlines about gender inequality: Thepktint World Global gender gap nartows to 68.8% but full parity 123yIS away, fnds World Economic Forum report WEF's Global Gender Gap Report 2025 shows Iceland remains global leader in gender equality for 16th consecutive yr at 92.6%. @thetinmen But as someone who's worked with the World Economic Forum, WORLD Partner & ECONomIC Support Team FQRUM George 13 United Kingdom Annual Meeting It's baby @thetinmen! I can tell you 9 their Gender Gap Report, 9 is extremely misleading:_.
@thetinmen The report penalises countries where women are behind .. Women behind? Men behind? Female disadvantage 4.R Equall GGGR but when it comes to areas where men are behind_ 9 it scores all these as 'equal'
@thetinmen Gender equality vs. women's empowerment The third distinguishing feature of the Global Gender Gap Index is that it ranks countries according to their proximity to gender equality rather than to women's The GGGR's methodology empowerment: Our aim is to focus on whether the gap makes this very clear: between women and men in the chosen indicators has declined, rather than whether women are winning the so-called "battle of the sexes" . Hence , the index rewards countries that reach the point where outcomes for women equal those for men, but it neither rewards nor penalizes cases in which women are outperforming men in particular indicators Women in some countries. Thus, a country that has higher enrolment for girls rather than boys in secondary school will score equal to a country where boys' and girls' enrolment is the same. Women Men Women Men Men Women Female Men Still equal disadvantage Equal Equal So no matter how far ahead women get, it will always be scored as 'equal'
@thetinmen And so,the world's most influential gender gap report, measures equality like this _. Globally, men are murdered at four times the rate as women: Equall GGGR Being male; is now the single largest demographic factor for early death: Girls outperform boys in school, 'at every level and every age group' , in virtually every developed country: American men have poorer health outcomes across all racial and socioeconomic groups. Equall GGGR Equall GGGR
@thetinmen And it gets more absurd when the GGGR measures _ Life Expectancy Where in every country on earth, men are behind women.
@thetinmen When scoring life expectancy; the GGGR actually changes the benchmark for 'equality' . Women Stating that women must live five years longer than men, to be scored 'equal' . Five year gap Men_ Equall GGGR
Step 2 Data truncation at The ratios obtained above parity benchmark: "equality are benchmark" truncated at the For all the two health indicators, except is set at 1, andicators , the equality bencheark meaning men: In the equal numbers of women and case of sex ratio at birth, the benchmark is set at 0.944,6andbin equality healthy lite expectancy the case of set at 1.06 €0 beptaneyhae facuality benchmark is to naturally live fact that women tend ~consicertly avedlonger than men: achieved if, on As such, parity is five years average, longer than men.& women live Meaning; if women only live four years longer than men, or less, then the GGGR scores them as 'disadvantaged despite them living longer! Five year gap Female disadvantage GGGR
@thetinmen Oh_ and one more thing WFrld ECONOw_ How can we Phave an honest F conversation about gender equality, if the way we measure it is broken? What do you think? @thetinmen

To talk about “gender equality”, particularly as a man, is to walk a tiny tightrope, strung high above a swamp of crocodiles, who are all too happy to eat you, if you fall. And like all swamps, gender equality is muddled, impossible to dissect, or see beyond, and hides great pit falls, that the overconfident or the foolish fall down. Despite these challenges… People want simple, straight forward, tweetable answers, where there are none. Others grasp for ammunition, or hand grenades, to throw at “the other side”, without rhyme or reason. Many paint in a singular color, black versus white, or red versus blue, with sloganeering, cartoonish, one-size-fits-all rhetoric of “privilege” and “the patriarchy”. It is, of course, not an easy place to tread, especially when so many quietly want you to slip, and fall into the snapping jaws of those patiently waiting below. And so we need a map; impartial, evidence based, and non-political, to guide us on this topsy turvy journey toward a better, fairer, smarter world. The World Economic Forum claim to hold such a thing, with their Global Gender Gap Report (GGGR), that maps out gender inequality across the world, every year, and is frequently the source for endless saber-ratting outrage by the media. But… If you were looking for something solid to pin your beliefs on – this is not it – as the GGGR is as flawed as they come; beyond shortsightedness, to be described as systemically sexist itself, that wholesale erases male disadvantage altogether… Let me show you… ~ GGGR 2025 https://tinyurl.com/4ur6mtmx Images by Teemu Paananen, Evangeline Shaw, Arnaud Mariat
