The concept of ‘toxic masculinity’, finally, is being consigned to the dustbin of history.
It’s over, or at least, soon will be.
No longer splashed across newspaper headlines, or screeched in comment sections, ‘toxic masculinity’ is held onto by only a few particularly hard headed influencers, bratty teenagers, and run-off-the-mlll man hating malefactors; who will no doubt be joining such a term, in the bin, as we close the lid on this embarrassing chapter of advocacy.
There are many, many reasons not to like the term, and many ways in which it is unhelpful, misleading, insulting, and childish.
And it doesn’t take an expert to explain why.
But – it always helps to hear from one.
So here is a segment from my discussion with world leading expert on men and boys, Richard V. Reeves, President of @aibm_org, to explain exactly where it fails, and how we must learn to do better.
So what do you think of ‘toxic masculinity’ and will you be joining us in a more progressive, inclusive, and grown up style of advocacy?
