Sign the petition Calls to appoint a ‘Minister for Men’ in the UK aren’t going away, because such a position is desperately needed. It seems clear that the majority of the public do not support such a cause, but I would contest the vast majority of the public simply do not understand what is happening to our men and boys. And they should. Because we all have fathers, sons, brothers and friends we care about, each of whom are being failed by our political leaders. There are now three Government appointed political positions to support and champion women and girls. The Minister for Women, Kemi Badenoch MP. The Minister for Women’s Health, Maria Caulfield MP. And the newly created Women’s Health Ambassador, Dame Lesley Regan. I don’t begrudge such positions, I support them entirely, and agree, they are needed. But the lack of similar positions for men is a clear reminder than the issues they experience are un-important to society. Male suicide, unimportant. Boys behind in education, unimportant. Homeless men on the streets, unimportant. The crisis of men’s health, unimportant. Male victims of abuse, unimportant. On, and on it goes. ‘We don’t need a Minister for Men!’ I continue to see splattered across Twitter. Which is ironic, as the people who told men that their opinion on women’s issues was ‘irrelevant’, are now the first to insert their own opinion when it comes to a ‘do we Minister for Men?’ No uterus no opinion. Well, what about no penis no opinion? I don’t know. But what I do know, is that the general public do not know what I know about men and boys. They do not read what @thetinmen continues to post about. And if it they did, they would be screaming from the roof tops to appoint this Minister for Men immediately. So who will be the difference? Who will get this over the finish line? Will you sign the petition? ~ [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] #ministerformen #mensissues #mensmentalhealth #malesuicideawareness #malesuicide
