Ew gross, yuk, men’s advocacy, wtf Incel! The same boring insults, from the same narrow minded buffoon. Really, it’s a shame that the discussion of men’s advocacy is so unfairly surrounded by such juvenile insults, and stomped on by such fragile fanatics. As I truly believe men’s advocacy holds the key to understanding so many issues that we openly care about. Police violence? Gay hate crimes? Mass incarceration? Yes. The painful irony is that so many of us are accidental advocates for men – but under the guise of something else. That sign you made, or march you went on to protest police violence? Yes, 96% of that was for men – who remain the overwhelming majority of police violence victims. That work you did for homelessness? The men who make up every nine in ten homeless deaths, would have thanked you. Did you protest sending soldiers to the war? Are you against unsafe working environments? Do you want to reform the prison system? Will you help end the opioid crisis? Good, me too. Welcome to men’s advocacy, I told you it wasn’t so bad. Yes. We must allow the male sex to be part of these discussions as a vulnerable group, for the greater benefit of everyone. And I know this is unfamiliar ground, and uncomfortable to say the least, be we have to leave room for such nuance if we are going to move the dial on any of these important things. To not do so, only hurts everyone else. So what has happened to men’s issues? Why are we so against it? Do you even know why you hate it so much? Because, when an issue primality impacts women, it becomes a ‘woman’s issue’, yet we never do such a thing for men, regardless of how disproportionately they’re affected. So why not?
