The world has started to wake up to the harmful and dehumanising language aimed at women and girls, and whilst work still needs to be done – we are at least doing something. The same cannot be said about the language thrown at men and boys, that is openly tweeted, printed, and published, to very little resistance, and even “yas kween” back slapping applause. Trash, pigs, toxic, sharks, ticks, chocolates rolled in shit… The list of brain dead thought experiments, masquerading as ‘advocacy’, is a list that seemingly knows no end. Even ‘the patriarchy’, the allusive tyrannical oppressor class of ‘men’, has an undeniable whiff of dehumanising rhetoric to it. So what about “dogs”? The animal to which so many women have been compared historically, is now becoming the new symbol of men; to be trained, and coerced into utter obedience, written and bragged about, by an army of angry authors. ‘Why men are dogs!’, ‘All men are dogs!’, ‘How to train your man, like a dog!’, ‘Dog training, but for men!’…. it goes on and on, dozens of books pedalling this trash have popped up, to fill what is clearly an burgeoning new market of some kind. So I ask, would these books be acceptable if they were teaching men how to train their wives into subservience? Would a cover image of a women with a leash around her neck, kneeling by a man’s side even get printed, let alone stocked by book stores? I don’t know. But what I do know, is if you see any of these books on the shelves, or bed side tables of the women you’re dating, I’d suggest you reconsider knowing them.
