There is no one word to describe women. No single definition, concept or idea. No excerpt I can recant from any poem, nor wise words from any text. Nothing can ever really capture who women are, what they’ve been through, or achieved. Women are not a monolith. They are not a single shape, but a tapestry of infinite colour, texture and complexity. Today is #InternationalWomensDay, a day for all women, everywhere, across the world. A day not just to say thanks to women, but also to recognise the character, resilience and wonder *within* women. To recognise the women who support us. The women who love us. The women who we admire, learn from and follow. Our role models, our teachers, our family and friends; our partners, our sisters, our daughters, and too many more to name. They are those who make life worth living. Every year I see International Mens Day only celebrated for ‘the men who support women’, or for ‘male allies’ or the ‘good men’. But it is not for me to decide who ‘good women’ are, or to limit my appreciation of women, only to those of benefit to me. Like I said – today is for all women, whoever they are, or choose to be. Even those who have made my life difficult, happy International Women’s Day. Even those who say nasty things about me, or report my content, this is your day, and I appreciate you too, and admire your strength. So yes, Happy Women’s Day to all women, thank you for being here, the world would be a far darker place without you in it. Happy International Women’s Day. ~ Images by Gradienta, Dan Cristian Padure, #internationalwomensday #womensday #internationalwomensday2023 #womenarestrong
