I don’t know why ‘mens issues’ are seen as so controversial, considering everybody is talking about them. I mean - in 2020, we saw the world stand up for victims of police brutality. Many times we’ve heard advocates bellow the words ‘every child deserves an equal education’. And the anti-war drum has been beaten again, and again, and again, as the people march in the hope of enduring peace. And yes… police brutality, education, and war deaths are all (in a large part) ‘men’s issues’. Do you want to feed the homeless? Good, they’re mostly men. Do you want to help those addicted to drugs? So do I. They’re mostly men too. What about saving those who die by suicide? …Yes, you get the point. The reality is that society is not afraid to speak about ‘men’s issues’, just as long as we don’t classify or call them that. And it is this which leads us to what I call the ‘accidental advocate’. A person that sees the pieces of men’s advocacy, but is yet to put them together into one image. So what do you think, do you know any accidental advocates? ~ Images by Kiwi Hug, Taylor Flower, Ben Hershey, and Codioful, Katya Ross, Clay Banks, Alexandra Corn, Christopher Burns.
