There are strong arguments that historically, women were not paid equally to men.
There are strong arguments that “women’s work” is under valued, both financially and in the eyes of society.
There are strong arguments that, in many ways, and in many places around the world, women are dealt a bum hand, and such conversations need to be had. These ‘gaps’ are worthy of discussion.
But more and more, powerful unions, opportunistic lawyers, journalists, and many women, are using discrimination laws to bully, and legislate against employers, impoverished councils, and even the U.S. Soccer Federation, for money they are not owed.
We have Glasgow council being crushed by a £770 million claim that could bankrupt the city.
We have Asda, and many other highstreet brands, facing mass unemployment and even closure, as BILLIONS of pounds of gender pay gap claims rise up around them. Even U.S. Women’s Soccer (ahem “football”), are being signed cheques for eight figures, despite turning down (twice) the very deal they now complain about.
These are lawsuits, that on the surface seem righteous and worth supporting, but to peer beneath the surface reveals a malevolent, exploitative set of claimants, who masquerade as victims, to try to game the system.
So who will separate the genuine lawsuits from the opportunistic ones? And how many councils, businesses, and employers have to go under, before we talk about them? What do you think?
