This Asshole

We are all individuals, all capable of the same gamete of behaviours.

Your labels don’t change who you are, they don’t make you good, or bad, they don’t make you right or wrong.

They don’t make you infallible, or inherently toxic. They don’t absolve you of responsibility and they don’t put you beyond reproach.

We are each equally capable of brilliance and stupidity, of eye opening vision, or narrow minded bigotry.

We are all imperfect.

Within every group we have all of these people, both useful and problematic.

And whilst it can be frustrating, it’s important to not allow the loudness of an annoying minority to impact our opinions of others in their group.

We are each the product of our experiences, ideas, hope, fears and dreams, and disentangling these within those we meet, is one of the painful beauties of life.

Being a man does not make you bad, nor does being an MRA, or a feminist.

So how can we look through the labels, to see each other as individuals first?
