The traditional criminal justice system is broken, those inside don’t come out better, instead they often come out worse.
And yes, it may sound unpopular, but many of the people in prison, who are mostly men, are victims in their own right.
Vulnerable individuals, trapped in a system of continual suffering, humiliation, violence and profit.
Perhaps there’s a better solution, one where prisoners are seen as people in need of help.
A prison that provides opportunity and dignity to those inside.
A place of autonomy, offering both metaphorical and literal open doors to its inmates.
The Nordic model is fundamentally changing the criminal justice system in Scandinavia.
Let’s take a look.
