I have always been pro choice, for both women and men. I think happy and healthy children come from empowered and autonomous adults, who chose to be parents.
I think depriving anybody of this choice helps nobody. It doesn’t help the parent, it doesn’t help the state and it doesn’t help the child.
I think the overturning of Roe vs Wade is a shocking backward slide for women’s rights that won’t reduce abortions, it’ll just force them back underground, making them more dangerous and costly.
And as always, I think it will have the greatest impact on poor; the inner city women, especially those of colour, who will now be further crushed by new expectations and responsibilities they are not ready for, or don’t want.
That said, I also believe complex differences are solved through useful discussion – so with that, I hope to provide the information of what’s happened over the last 24 hours, who did it, what it means and how it could change the future, in more ways than we expect.
