‘Toxic Masculinity’, ‘Mansplaining’, ‘Men are Trash’, ’Kill all men’.
Each written with clear intent, whilst also allowing the user to dance between the lines of plausible deniability.
“Nooo, not like that!”
“We don’t mean ALL men”
“That’s not what it means!”
In many ways it ought to be admired, these nasty phrases are a sort of linguistic Trojan horse, delivering bigotry with an ejector seat button attached.
But now the dancing stops. No more writing between the lines. No more shirking responsibility. No more gaslighting.
