Words are important, especially when talking about important societal matters such as domestic violence.
This is why last year the Mankind Initiative, alongside the UK Office for Statistics Regulator forced the UK Home Office to *stop* using the word ‘vast’ to describe the relative difference of domestic violence perpetration by sex.
But with the latest response to Women’s Aids petition, which demanded the government end its gender neutral approach to domestic violence, the infamous word has reappeared – this time from the The Ministry for Housing, Community and Local Government @mhclg when talking about severe injuries and domestic homicide.
One in four domestic homicides are men - is this ‘vast’ to you?
