









I’ll be honest. I for one think it’s weird to name a power structure after the parent without power.
Patriarchy, the literal translation of ‘father ruler’ is a backward concept, in that is supposes power onto the parent who has none.
Because fathers, at least in the UK, *do not* have equal parental rights or equal power, and they ought not to be painted as some sort of ‘head of the family’ figure.
To make sense of this, let’s remove the labels and see how we feel at the end…
