20k: What’s your story?
We are human beings. Not robots. Not spreadsheets.
We are not driven by data or inspired by numbers, and no, we don’t care much for statistics either.
Because beneath the quantitive, below the numerical, and behind the academic – there’s one thing we love more than anything else, and always will.
Something created long before our world of wonders…
Stories.
Yes anthropologists look at tools or agriculture, twiddling their opposable thumbs. But for me, it’s our ability to buy into and be inspired by stories that truly sets us apart as a species.
Because before society even existed, before the ages of bronze, steel and stone – we first built fire.
Fire around which we shared stories. Stories of ourselves, stories of one another, stories of our friends, family and foe.
They are woven into the very fabric of the human spirit and embedded into the centre of our being.
